Support Worker Private Advertiser

JOB DESCRIPTION

Hi….My name is Ethan, I am 15 years old, and  I am looking for MALE Support Workers to join my team.

Actually, I am pretty keen to find more of a mentor who will support me as I get through the rest of my teen years.

I get along well with people who share similar interests to me. I have many interests, but I spend most of my time gaming. I love playing first person shooters, MMO’s, and strategy games, on both Xbox and Play Station. I also enjoy watching Tik Tok’s, YouTube, and Anime.

I love a good  conversation about things like history, or a debate on social/human rights issues, and just typical teenage stuff. I need for you to take the lead from me as you are getting to know me. As we build on our trust and connection, you will know when I am ready for you to ask me questions, less is more to start with!

I’m interested in learning some new things, maybe tabletop gaming (like DnD). I want to get more active but being pushy is not the way to go. Have discussions with me as this is the way I process information. Share your experiences with me and I will ask more questions if it is something I am interested in and it would be great if you could help motivate me to go to the gym, or do something else fun.

About My Family:

I live in a unit in Balga with my mum. My mum works part time and is also studying at the moment. She sometimes requires support with household duties, and meal preparation, so when I am too tired or not into engaging, you may be supporting her. It’s Ok … she’s cool and pretty direct.

To work well with us, you will need to follow recommendations from my team.. If you listen to the people who know us well and have been supporting us for a long time, you will succeed in this job. They will share their experiences with you on how to manage situations, and will also be happy to hear feedback on what your approach is too.

Your day will include a bit of help around the house with light cleaning and cooking at times, and role modelling that this type of thing is something I will eventually need to learn to do for myself. Prompting me to get ready for school, drop offs and pick ups are still a thing, encouraging me to do things with you, and not for me, so that I can build on my independent living skills. I may fight this at times, so you will need to be creative and ask for my input in a different way

About You:

It would be helpful for both of us if you have a calm and non reactive personality.

I need you to have the following personality traits for this partnership to be successful;

  • motivated, organised, understanding/empathetic, honest, committed “in it for the long haul, not the beer money”
  • Open minded and comfortable with teenagers, and all kinds of diversity
  • good verbal and written communication skills.
  • the ability to read between the lines and pick up on non verbal communications
  • Reliable (be here when you say you’re going to be here)

Availability and willingness to commit to a set roster is essential. Shifts are currently on Mondays 7am to 9am and 3pm-6.30pm, Wednesday 7am to 9am and 3pm to 6.30 pm. For the right candidate a fortnightly Saturday will also be available.

You will need to have the usual requirements

  • Full Australian drivers license
  • Vehicle that is roadworthy, with full comprehensive insurance  (air con and 5 seater preferred)
  • Current first aid certificate including CPR
  • Valid Working With Children’s Check
  • National Police Clearance (less than 6 months old) OR NDIS workers clearance if you have one
  • Medication competency is preferred or you must gain this within 1 month of commencing employment
  • Covid-19 Double Vaccination certificate

What you get?

  • An awesome dude to support (me!)
  • A challenge, but also a reward when we get our stuff sorted together
  • A long term commitment to building a good relationship with each other
  • An accepting and open environment to work in….. what you see is what you get! We are direct, and appreciate honesty.

We are keen to get someone on board ASAP, so should you want to work with me, please hit Apply now, and we will get in touch if we also see something cool that might work with us.

Please include your resume, and a cover letter indicating what tricks you have up your sleeve, or why you think we could be a good combo!
