About the role

South West Healthcare (SWH) is currently seeking a Senior Wellbeing Officer to join our Hospital Outreach Post-suicidal Engagement (HOPE) team. In this key position, you will work closely with the Team Leader and Manager to support the leadership and coordination of a multi-disciplinary team delivering the HOPE program.

The HOPE program offers mental health treatment services to individuals aged 16 and over who have been referred following a suicide attempt or are experiencing acute suicidal ideation. The team provides evidence-based biological, psychological, and social interventions tailored to each person’s needs and goals, for up to three months. A proportion of work within the HOPE program will take place outside regular business hours, with shifts scheduled at least one month in advance.

 Position Overview

  • Permanent full-time (80 hours per fortnight) position with a monthly Accrued Day Off (ADO)
  • Warrnambool Campus
  • Welfare Worker Class 4
  • Salary range: $77,812 – $83,153 pro rata, plus superannuation

This position may qualify for an incentive payment of up to $20,000 to support expenses such as rent, childcare, relocation costs, and more, through the Rural Workforce and Incentive Grants Program administered by Rural Workforce Agency Victoria (RWAV).

What you bring

  • Relevant experience in similar leadership roles
  •  Minimum of two years experience working in the social, community service or welfare work areas.
  • Diploma or higher tertiary qualification in social or community service. .
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as experience in coordination and supervision of staff.
  • Recent experience working under professional and clinical supervision with individuals in crisis, with mental health issues.
  • Demonstrated commitment to care of consumers and their families in the least restrictive and intrusive manner, respecting rights, privacy and dignity.
  • An understanding of recovery oriented practices and trauma informed care in relation to the role.
  • Ability to show initiative and proven capacity to work both autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in computer skills.
  • Current Victorian driver’s licence is required.
