About the roles:

An exciting opportunity is now available within our Men’s Health & Wellbeing (MHWB) team for a male Outreach Support Worker to work across a range of programs which support predominantly Aboriginal men who are seeking support for complex issues.  The MHWB team provides case management and outreach services in Broome (and West Kimberley communities) to support men in making positive changes in their lives.  We are looking for a strong, motivated male who wants to make a difference. 

Your key duties will include:

  • Assess new clients and support goal setting.
  • Provide case management support to clients including those who are making the transition from prison to community. 
  • Make referrals for clients to specialist services.
  • Raise community awareness of issues relating to men’s health & wellbeing, family violence, substance abuse and mental health issues.
  • Provide advocacy support to clients.
  • Enter client data into a client management system and create reports.
  • Support the development of culturally appropriate programs.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • A commitment to improving the health & wellbeing outcomes for men in our community.
  • Ability to gain security clearance for the prison system.
  • Experience working in Aboriginal men’s health & wellbeing.
  • Knowledge and work experience in complex issues such as mental health, substance abuse and family domestic violence
  • Ability to communicate with men from diverse backgrounds.
  • Computer literacy and basic record keeping skills.
  • Experience in facilitating workshops or confidence to learn.
  • Ability to travel on occasion to Kimberley locations outside of Broome.
  • Good time management, written and verbal communication skills and planning and organisation skills.
  • Current WA “C” class driver’s license
