Overall Requirements of our Extended Care Assistants:

  • Treating residents and clients with dignity and respect and supporting them to maintain their identity.
  • Supporting residents and clients with respect to their independence and making informed choices about their care, services and living the life they choose.
  • Contributing to resident and client care that is safe and effective and meets their needs goals and preferences to optimise their health, well-being, independence and quality of life.
  • Contributing to a safe residential and work environment
  • Maintain accurate documentation within scope of role, in accordance with QV Care policies and procedures. Reporting care needs and any changes.
  • An ability to successfully contribute towards teamwork, fostering a positive and progressive workplace culture.
  • A commitment to providing feedback and supporting resident and clients to have input and provide feedback.
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and continuous improvement relevant to your position, business unit and the Aged Care sector. This includes active participation in meetings and completion of training.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Works within agreed duty statements, ensuring care needs meets immediate resident needs.
  • Resident and person-centred focus, delivering quality care to residents based on agreed care plan.
  • Escalation to care team, nurses for timely assessment and interventions.
  • Communication, Confidentiality and Open Disclosure, ensuring respect and empathy towards residents and their families.
  • Responding to urgent and emergency situations
  • Leading and working co-operatively with others
  • Documentation through our ICare (Telstra Health system), ensuring accuracy and ongoing notes and assessments.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development 
  • Committment to workplace health and safety, including duty of care and incident reporting.
  • Infection Control and Prevention.

 

To be successful in the role the suitable applicants will have:

  • A current Certificate III in Individual Support and/or Certificate IV in Aged Care
  • Practical on-the-job experience within residential aged care or community care or an appropriate student placement within residential aged care an understanding of compliance and relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • A commitment to the delivery of quality person centred care.
  • A high level of organisational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • A commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • A current National Police Check, or a willingness to gain one
  • COVID vaccinations including booster
  • Current Influenza vaccination
