Tribes Adventure Group is an outdoor adventure company that specialises in providing 1:1 mentoring, Day Activities and Adventure Camps for youth at risk, people with a disability and mental health participants.

Our programs have an adventure-based approach to improving well bring and building resilience in our clients by utilising unique, therapeutic practices relating to:

  • Life Skills Development
  • Mentoring

We are passionate about pushing our clients outside their comfort zone to provide them with the tools to be happy and successful members of the community.

About the Role:

We are currently looking for casual Eco-Mentors to join our team who have a passion for working with people with a disability (primarily autism and mental health), youth at risk and disadvantaged demographics. While we cover areas from South Brisbane and the Gold Coast we are currently looking for Eco-Mentors for the following areas, in particular:

  • Northern Rivers NSW covering Tweed Heads to Pottsville and out to Murwillumbah and surrounds.

Applicants must be willing to be flexible with days/times and there is the possibility of some weekend work.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring to Tribes participants to support them to reach their NDIS and/or other goals.
  • Preparedness for all 1:1 mentoring sessions such as having activity ideas and relevant resources.
  • Participation and collaboration on group activities.
  • Contribution to risk management and reduction whilst providing 1:1 or group supports.

Pay Rate

Starting pay rate:

  • Weekday rate: $30.95
  • Afternoon shift (after 8pm finish): $34.05
  • Saturday: $43.33
  • Sunday: $55.71

After the professional development (generally 10 weeks/120 support hours and completion of internal training) requirements have been met, the pay rate will move to:

  • Weekday rate: $38.08
  • Afternoon shift (after 8pm finish): $41.88
  • Saturday: $53.31
  • Sunday: $68.54

SEELECTION CRITERIA

To be successful in this role, you will need to have exceptional interpersonal skills in order to provide mentoring support to individuals with a disability, youth at risk and people with a mental illness and disadvantaged demographics. You must act with integrity at all times and to uphold the Tribes Adventures Code of Conduct; be reliable and consistent; and be able to assess and manage risk.

ESSENTIAL:

  • Highly developed practical skills working with vulnerable individuals.
  • Relevant life experience that can be utilised for participant development.
  • Ability to assess and work within company risk guidelines
  • Completion of internal training as part of induction process including Tribes Adventure Group specific courses
  • Commit to ongoing Professional Development.

Highly Desirable:

  • Qualifications in Disability, Youth Work, Community Services, Education or related field; or qualifications in the wellbeing and fitness sectors
  • Experience in facilitating outdoor education

The applicant must also have the following qualification or be willing to acquire them:

  • Current Driver’s license;
  • Current QLD Paid Blue Card/WWCC or ability to obtain one;
  • National Police Check (less than 6 months old);
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification;
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module;
  • NDIS Worker Screening;
  • Rights to work in Australia.

Covid 19 Vaccination – as per current NSW/Queensland Health Mandates it is a requirement for all support workers to be fully vaccinated. Our organisation is legally required to sight your Covid19 vaccination certificate prior to linking you to support participants.
