Kindred Heart Care is searching for Disability Support Workers who are compassionate, energetic, and driven to join our growing team in Adelaide. We provide individualised and tailored care and support to people living with disabilities. We offer a wide range of support, services and programs to our participants and their families which includes:

  • In-Home Support
  • Community Services
  • Supported Independent Living

The opportunity is for a casual position working a flexible roster including weekends. Progression into a permanent position for the right candidate.

Experience is preferred but not essential.

About the Opportunity

As a Disability Support Worker, you will be responsible for providing support and care to all our participants both in their home and out in the community. Support Workers will assist them with their day-to-day activities while encouraging their independence and respecting their choice and control.

Reporting to the Team manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting our participants with day-to-day activities 
  • Building relationships with our participants 
  • Supporting our participants with appointments
  • Providing Support in their own house environment 
  • Providing community access to our participants eg grocery shopping, recreational activities etc.
  • Ensuring our participants’ homes are clean, tidy and organised
  • General cooking and domestic duties eg laundry, food preparation etc.
  • Recording detailed Case Notes
  • Ensuring the participants needs are being met, paying particular focus to the goals outlined in their NDIS plan. 

About You

To be successful in the role you must have:

  • Third party car insurance and use of your own motor vehicle for transporting participants
  • Full Drivers Licence
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Full working rights within Australia
  • Up to date with Covid19 vaccinations

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Certificate 3 or above in community services or individual support
  • Experience with high intensity supports
  • Experience working with people with mental health disabilities
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques
  • Experience in a similar role will be highly advantageous
