About the role

Independent Disability Services is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join our team in Northcote, Victoria. In this casual role, you’ll be responsible for providing personalised support and assistance to people with disabilities, supporting them to live independently and achieve their goals.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks
  • Facilitating access to community resources and supporting social and recreational participation
  • Advocating for client rights and ensuring their needs are met
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Collaborating with the wider care team to develop and implement individualised support plans.

What we’re looking for

  • A Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or Aged Care (or equivalent, e.g. nursing)
  • Experience providing person-centred support to individuals with a range of disabilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and public holidays
  • Full Victorian driver licence, and comprehensive vehicle insurance.

Essential Criteria

  • Must be eligible to Work in Australia
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Disability Support Worker
  • Ideally lives in Northcote (or within a 30 minute radius)
  • Must own or have regular access to a car
  • Current Working With Children’s Check
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • First Aid Accreditations.
