The Organisation

Our Client provides homelessness services to adult women and young women, aged 18+, and young women who are pregnant or parenting children 4 years and under.

The team provides holistic support via a range of services to help women rebuild their self-worth and make sustainable changes in their lives. They support women to increase their capacity to reach their full potential, sustain tenancies and develop skills through a trauma informed, recovery orientated case management framework.

 

The Role 

We are recruiting for a Property & Tenancy Officer. This role is Permanent Full Time, working 38 hours per week Monday-Friday. Hours will generally be 9:00am to 5:00pm, with some flexibility around this. 

The Property & Tenancy Officer will provide efficient and effective property and tenancy management of the community properties provided under Homelessness Services, Women and Families. 

This role will be based from the Toowong office, and the successful candidate will be providing outreach services across the Brisbane and Ipswich regions using a company Fleet vehicle. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist to educate women around sustaining tenancies and ensure Health & Safety standards 
  • Complete property inspections during the tenancy period, and exit inspections in accordance with the provisions set out by the RTA. 
  • Maintain property, asset and equipment registers and inventories 
  • Coordinate responsive maintenance systems and initiate appropriate action in response to property maintenance needs 
  • Liaise with property owners, managers or relevant parties and contractors as required; attend at site if necessary
  • Prepare and sign tenancy agreements; ensure that service users are aware of their rights and responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain accurate tenancy and property files and records
  • Work within and promote the service framework which values difference, self-determination, social justice and strengths of the families we support

 

To Be Successful

  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Authority
  • Capacity to convey complex information to service users from diverse backgrounds
  • Record management experience with an understanding of Human Services quality frameworks
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Collaborative and productive; able to build rapport and develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Solutions-focused and self-managing with the ability to work as part of team
  • Competency with Microsoft Office; capacity to learn and use other software and systems
  • An interest in the issues that affect women and families in accessing safe, affordable housing

 

Other requirements

  • Female candidates will only be considered (It is a genuine requirement that this position is filled by a woman as permitted in sections 25, 104 and 105 of the Anti-Discrimination Act, 1991)
  • Diploma in Tenancy Coordination, Social Housing, Property Management or similar field and/or equivalent practical experience (essential)
  • Degree in Human Services or other relevant community services field (desired)
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Current National Police Check

 

Salary and Benefits

  • $43.78 per hour – $86,509.28 per annum + 11.5% Super 
  • Street parking available at Toowong location
  • Fleet vehicle available for all work related travel 
  • Potential for some work from home opportunities
