Volunteer Sector Development Officer
- Play a key role to promote and raise the profile of volunteering across Boroondara
- Full time, fixed term role (until September 2025)
- $76,049 to $88,495 per annum plus Super and RDO
Make a difference in the community by developing activities that raise the profile of volunteering, develop good volunteer engagement practice, and support community strengthening, social inclusion and wellbeing objectives across Boroondara.
A little bit about the role
Reporting to the Volunteer Support & Development Lead, the Volunteer Sector Development Officer will be responsible for a portfolio of activities for which volunteers, volunteer-involving organisations, and Council departments are the primary audience or customer group.
The role will also be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Working in collaboration with the Volunteer Support & Development Lead to develop initiatives which respond to current and emerging trends in volunteering
- Organising large events designed to connect prospective volunteers including professionals to community organisations as well as recognise and promote volunteering
- Implementation of a range of communications strategies that promote volunteering in Boroondara, in consultation with Council’s Communications and Technology and Transformation teams
- Developing of the Boroondara Volunteer Skills Bank, and
- Ongoing development of the Boroondara volunteer management database
A little bit about you
You will have outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, who is both personable and approachable to a range of audiences including all levels of local government, external organisations, networks, and the community.
You will have a demonstrated understanding of the volunteer sector and community development principles.
You will have experience in project development and the delivery of large events.
You will also have comprehensive computer skills across the Microsoft Office range of applications and a willingness to work as part of a team, prepared to share experiences with other team members to improve overall knowledge.
The successful incumbent will also have:
- a qualification or continuing study in the fields of community development, social science or human services preferred
- a commitment to quality outcomes and efficient work practices, and
- excellent time management and organisation skills
Employment Requirements
- Preferred applicants will be required to undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
- All City of Boroondara employees must be fully vaccinated. Appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to provision of evidence of vaccination status or medical exemption prior to commencement.
