What can you expect in a typical day working as a Support Worker?
We support people in their homes and into the community, providing them with the opportunity to live their best lives and to fulfil their goals and dreams. You will provide home based support such as meal management and personal care, where required, and transport the people we support into the community for appointments and activities.
- Complete daily support tasks, as required by the service and
the person, to ensure a safe environment, including but not limited to cleaning and personal hygiene - Participate in the development and implementation of individual support plans, ensuring that outcomes enhance the abilities, skills and
opportunities for people with disability - Engage with the person to develop daily routines and activity schedules,
aligned with their NDIS goals, which enhance their access to community and
level of independence
What do you need to become a Support Worker?
- Ideally experience in working with positive behaviour support plans
- A passion for working in disability services and eager to learn all the skills and knowledge to become a fantastic Support Worker
- You are a true people person who is empathetic and resilient
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Availability to work on weekends, rostered overnight shifts and public holidays where required (penalty rates apply)
- Experience working with Microsoft packages and ability to pick up internal systems
What clearances/checks do you need?
- Hold or be willing to obtain a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) & a NDIS Worker Screening Check (previously a Yellow Card)
- Hold or be willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR certificate
- Willing to undertake a “Fit2Work” National Criminal History Check (should you be successful)
- Open Driver’s License with comprehensive insurance to transfer them into the community
- In line with the direction from State Government, all authorised workers defined under the Queensland Public Health Order will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 from 15 December 2021.Sond
