Position: Support Worker
Salary range: $30.4555- $33.2295 (Community Services Worker Level 2)
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time, Temporary (30 June 2023 with possibility of extension)

Your opportunity:
An exciting opportunity currently exists at Centacare FNQ for a self-motivated and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our dynamic Social Wellbeing Hub team based in Cairns.
You will be required to provide services to people who are living in the community and having difficulty performing core activities due to functional and/or cognitive limitations. It is hoped that the services provided will allow people to live independently in the community and avoid early admission into permanent residential care. The position will also be required to provide overnight/ weekend respite duties, as required.
Your role:
- Document and report the ongoing progress of clients and report any changes in care needs.
- Update and develop Quality documents relevant to the position and service as required.
- Provide relevant information on community services and activities to clients and their carers to improve access and participation.
- Provide services to meet the spiritual, emotional, cultural and safety needs for individual clients in accordance with Centacare FNQ policy and procedures, contracts and service agreements of designated programs.
- Deliver a client centred approach to service delivery with consultation and negotiation being the focus of all interactions.
- Assist clients to enable participation in service activities ensuring adequate client supervision.
- Assist clients with necessary personal care, ensuring the client privacy and dignity.
- Assist with overnight/ weekend respite, as required
- Setting up and facilitating weekend respite
- On call during the allocated respite weekend
Essential Qualifications/Requirements:
- Certificate III or IV in Aged Care or equivalent and experience in the care of people who are frail and elderly and people with a disability.
- Ability to gain maintain CPR certification.
- Knowledge, skills and experience in Home and Community Care activities, services and reporting systems.
- This position requires the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle. Proof of driver license must be provided before commencement of duty.
- A valid Positive Notice Blue Card and Yellow Card– No Card, No Start laws apply.
- Pre-employment screening, including criminal history and discipline history checks, will be undertaken on persons recommended for employment. Possession of a current National Police Certificate from the National Police Service is mandatory.
