We are seeking a FEMALE DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKER to join our dedicated team long term, in supporting a lady who lives in her own home in Redland City. This position currently is for 3 – 4 day shifts per week on weekdays. Day shifts are 9am to 5pm. Successful applicant will be honest and trustworthy and have a genuine interest in working to improve the lives of people with disabilities and will live within a 30 minute drive of Capalaba in Redland City.

Primary Duties include
Personal care assistance
General housework and cleaning
Basic cooking and meal preparation
Community Access Support
Implementing In-Home Therapy and Behaviour Support Programmes
Liaising with other professionals
Light gardening duties
Pet care
The successful candidate will possess
- A WILLINGNESS TO ADHERE TO ALL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
- An understanding of AUTISM and it’s effects
- Experience in providing personal cares
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- An understanding of non-verbal communication and the appropriate, respectful responses (knowledge of Makaton sign language seen as an advantage).
- Ability to cope appropriately with challenging client behaviour and to respond in accordance with the Behaviour Support Plan.
- Ability to work productively alone and in a team.
- Ability to follow directions, report clearly and effectively and implement care plans.
- Knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safely.
- A current unrestricted driver’s license with good/safe driving history.
- A current national police check or willingness to allow for one to be obtained.
- A current first aid certificate or willingness to obtain.
Initially, up to 3 buddy shifts are provided to ensure new staff members are comfortable and confident in their ability to provide the highest standard of care and support to our client.
