Disability Support Worker – Nowra Care1

JOB DESCRIPTION

Care1 is currently seeking enthusiastic and reliable people to join our team of disability support workers to provide care and support to a care recipient in Nowra NSW on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8.30am – 15.30pm and possibly other shifts from time to time.

About the Role

You’ll ensure optimal comfort for our clients by assisting with activities of daily living and other care as determined by the needs and the care plans of the clients we support, and this may include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting clients with complex and/or challenging needs
  • Personal care: bowel care, showering, dressing, grooming and medication assistance
  • Domestic assistance: light housework (cleaning, laundry and meal preparation)
  • Supporting clients who use personal equipment/aid, this may include walking or standing frames, wheelchairs, hoists
  • Monitoring the well-being of clients and reporting on their progress
  • Social Activities: transporting clients to their appointments, shopping, any planned social activity

Essential Criteria:

  • Right to Work in Australia such as passport, visa, birth certificate
  • Driver’s license and reliable vehicle
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain before employment
  • Police Check or NDISWC are essential with a preference for NDISWC
  • Working with Children Check
  • COVID-19 Vaccine Digital Certificate

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience providing complex personal care
  • Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disabilities or similar is desirable (willingness and the ability to obtain is essential)
  • Previous healthcare or community welfare experience is an advantage along with a genuine desire to support people to live a higher quality of life will be highly regarded
  • Experience dealing with clients experiencing Drug and Alcohol dependence
