LOCATION – CAMDEN/CAMPBELLTOWN LGA’s

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in a professional caring role – minimum 1 year
  • Experience with manual handling/hoisting
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Covid 19 Vaccination
  • Minimum Cert 3 Individual/Disability/Education Support – or willing to obtain
  • Be dedicated and committed to long term employment
  • Be able to work independently as well as part of a team including with families
  • Be able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings
  • High proficiency in verbal and written English

Desirable Criteria:

  • Current First aid and CPR certificates
  • Certificate in Education Support
  • Nursing Certificate
  • Epilepsy training
  • Knowledge and experience working with high complex care needs
  • Healthcare/Peg feed certificate
  • Bowel care training
  • Medication administration training
  • Autism specific training
  • Knowledge of Makaton and Boardmaker
  • Manual handling – hoisting

The role will commence on a casual basis, with the possibility of moving to part-time after 3 months.

Position Specifics

We are looking for Disability Support Carers, in particular people with education, programming or nursing experience in South West Sydney to support our participants with attending our Young Adult Enrichment Program as well as daily personal activities and community access.

Our Young Adult Enrichment Program operates Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm, however service times including pick up and drop offs are between 7:30am and 6:00pm

Our Young Adult Enrichment Program is a post school options program with a difference. We have small participant numbers with high staff ratio to be able to provide the best level of personal and individual care. Our participants all have genetic disorders and/or high complex care needs.

We provide education components through our program as well as enjoy a lot of time out and about all around Sydney and Wollongong.

We have company vehicles which are all modified and easy for our carers to drive.

We are a great team and value input from all staff. We work collaboratively to ensure both participants and staff receive a high level of care, support and assistance.

We pay above award (SCHADS) wages and this is negotiated based on level of experience and education.

Job Type and Category

You will commence this position as a casual with the potential to move to permanent part or full time. We do offer a regular, consistent roster, however all positions commence as casual with the possibility of extending to permanent part time or full time.

We are family friendly and work closely and flexibly with all staff to ensure the needs of staff as well as the organisation are met.

You will need to be available to work weekends as well as weekdays and hours of rostered services vary between 7.30am and 6pm.

As a Plan Wise Living carer you will be employed under the SCHADS (home care) award and be paid above award rates.

We have over 20 years industry experience but Plan Wise Living has been its own company for four years. It started with two parents who have a child with significant disabilities. They are planning for their childs future and want to create the best future not only for their child but for others living with disability also.

Though we work across Western and South-West Sydney, this vacancy is primarily for carers able to work in and around the Camden and Campbelltown LGA’s.
