The Australian Association of Community, Aged and Disability workers is a membership body that aims to represent the needs of workers and those of the community the workers assist.
In general we support any actions which improve the lives of those people in aged care.
We do , however, recognise the need to balance these standards in such a way that they do not negatively impact upon the workforce.
The standards talk about registration of carers. This will result in costs for workers. As we represent workers in some of the lowest paid workforces we feel this would be an unreasonable impost on workers. We maintain that being a member of a professional body with standards and codes should be enough to ensure appropriate qualification and practice standards
