As a Trainee Support Worker, you will provide personal, physical, and emotional support to individuals who require assistance with different aspects of their daily living. This includes:
- Assisting clients with personal care
- Assisting clients with domestic care
- Assisting clients with their social needs, such as participation in activities and personal appointments
The opportunity:
The successful applicants will be engaged on a part-time employment contract by Health Training Australia and will be placed with a Host Organisation in the healthcare sector. You will receive remuneration for your shifts and class attendance.
You will be required to attend a mix of virtual and face to face classes where you will work your way through the CHC33015 – Certificate III in Individual Support curriculum. Your theoretical learning will support your practical skills that you will harness working at your Host Organisation.
You will be supported every step of the way – by your qualified trainers, your host organization’s experienced staff and HTA’s friendly trainee support team.
Successful candidates will be eligible for the Apprentice Training Support Payment.
These payments are paid directly to the trainee and are available every 6 months for the duration of the training. Payments are payable at $1250 (maximum of $5 000) for Full Timers and $625 (maximum of $2 500) for Part Timers.
On successful completion, you will be awarded your nationally recognised qualification and are ready for a career as a Support Worker in your chosen field! HTA trainees are highly sought after and have excellent employment prospects post-completion.

Health Training Australia (HTA) is a not-for-profit Group Training Organisation established in 1997 as a division of the Australian Medical Association (WA). HTA assists people to gain qualifications under a traineeship model and supports them to embark on new and exciting careers. HTA employs the trainee for the duration of their traineeship and facilitates their work placement with a host organisation in the aged care, home care and disability support sectors.
Requirements:
Applicants must:
- Have full Australian working and study rights to complete a traineeship in Australia;
- be available to work a variety of shifts (on a part-time basis);
- Influenza vaccination prior to commencing work experience [as per government requirements].
- have both of your Covid19 vaccinations prior to enrolment [as per government requirements];
- be over the age of 18;
- be able to obtain a National Police Clearance;
- have English Proficiency – effective communication and comprehension skills.
