About the role
As a Community Support Worker, you will play an essential role in supporting and empowering people with disability to live a life of their choosing and feel respected and valued within their community. Working in both a team environment and independently, you will provide a range of services assisting clients to live independently, be actively involved in their local community, and engaged in meaningful opportunities. This role can be demanding and challenging but overall rewarding, as you positively impact the lives of the people you support.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting clients to live an active lifestyle and participate in their community through the delivery of a range of person-centred programs
- Work to behaviour support plans by utilising positive behaviour strategies
- Assist and support clients with personal and hygiene care
- Manual handling and household tasks such as menu planning, cooking and cleaning
- Maintenance of progress notes and record-keeping
- Ensure the home is a safe and nurturing environment
About You
Similar to our clients, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. This role is fulfilling but can be tough, requiring someone resilient both physically and emotionally. We’re after people that have a good heart, with a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of people with disability and have similar values to ours. However, it does help if you have:
- Flexibility to work multiple shifts a day including, early mornings, late nights, sleepovers, weekends and public holidays
- Ability to support others with personal care and domestic duties – and happy for this to be part of your job
- Current Australian drivers licence
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- NSW Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain
- High levels of enthusiasm, initiative and a positive attitude while acting with integrity, honesty and respect
