The Role
Due to continued growth, OVOC is seeking casual Support Workers who are willing to be creative and dedicated to assisting our participants to work toward meeting their current & future goals.
Responsibilities
- Deliver support in a complex, physical, and active role, including undertaking personal care and medication administration
- Understand and undertake work in line with participant support plans
- Availability to work across a variety of shifts, which may include sleepovers
- Demonstrate resilience to provide both emotional and practical support
- Manual handling responsibilities, including use of sling lifter, or pelican belt
- Provide knowledgeable and appropriate responses to highly challenging behaviours
About You
- Passionate about delivering person-centred care in line with participant support plans
- Undertake work in a manner that empowers and values people living with a disability
- Ability to use initiative, and resolve issues or matters in a safe and compliant manner
- Passion to make a genuine and positive difference in clients’ lives
- Team mindset, and comfortable with asking for help, support, and coaching
Skills & Experience
- 12+ months of demonstrated experience in a similar environment including supporting participants with highly complex needs
- Relevant industry qualifications – Cert III in Individual Support or similar
- Experience with documentation requirements under NDIS
- Sound computer knowledge
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Current Australian Driver’s License
- Current NDIS Workers Screening Check or willing to obtain
- COVID-19 vaccinated OR Medical exemption required as per NSW PHO
- First Aid Certificate or are willing to obtain
- Previous experience working with non-verbal participants (desired)
