SUPPORT WORKERS NEEDED

About the Role:
We are seeking people who are physically fit, active, energetic, enthusiastic, and professional individuals and that have a solid experience in the disability sector to join our team in Lavington on a casual ongoing basis.
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be required to support participants to reach their individual goals through meaningful and fun activities in their home and out in the community.
As a Support Worker you will:
- Be respectful and communicate well with family members of those who you work with as you will be working in the participants family homes.
- Be able to think on your feet and be able to adapt to different situations and participants
- Support the people we care for to grow their skills basis and abilities to perform tasks to help live a meaningful and good life
- Support to develop and maintain independence and safety. This may be through personal care and hygiene, health and wellbeing, meal preparation or supporting them to access the community and activities
- Implement Behaviour Support Plans aimed at supporting the individual who demonstrates challenging behaviours to achieve their goals
- Implement routines and structures set out by Allied Health Teams
Please note that you may be required to work morning, afternoon and active overnight shifts depending what will be required of the participant which will include some weekend and public holiday shifts too.
Some travel may be required to clients who are outside of the Lavington area.
Essential Criteria:
- Physically fit and active
- Skills to manage Behaviours of Concern in line with a Behaviour Support Plan
- Understanding of restrictive practice policies
- Experience with Mental Health knowledge is desirable
- Experience with Autism is desirable
- The ability to develop a positive relationship with the participant
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work with children with disabilities
- Experience with psychosocial and complex and challenging behaviours if needed
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Drivers Licence
- New South Wales Working with Children’s Check
- Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate
- First Aid Certificate is desirable
- NDIS ‘New Worker Induction Module’
- Cert III in Individual Support or Cert IV in Disability (or equivalent) is desirable
