ABOUT THE ROLE:
You will be supporting individuals in their own homes, developing the clients’ daily living skills, providing community access, assisting with medication, supporting clients with complex needs, personal care, domestic, and other duties.
Note: This position may require heavy lifting and/or hoisting. Successful applicants may be required to complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
ABCARE Disability Support provide service in Newcastle, parts of Cessnock, Maitland and Lake Macquarie.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Proven experience working as a disability support practitioner or aged care/nursing.
- NDIS Worker Screening
- Current working with children and police check – this must be provided if interviewed.
- Valid Senior First Aid certificate and CPR.
- NSW drivers licence with your own registered and comprehensively insured vehicle.
- Demonstrated experience supporting clients in a way that respects their rights, dignity, values, beliefs, and personal goals.
- Ability to communicate effectively resulting in a clear understanding of the client’s needs.
- Individual who is flexible and be able to work efficiently on a 1:1 capacity.
- Manual handling experience: supporting people who have limited mobility.
- Administering medications.
- Experience in providing personal care duties.
- Certificate III or higher in Disability, Individual Support or Aged Care OR be entering the second year into your higher qualification in a relevant field.
- Available to work flexibly across a 24/7 rotating roster, including inactive and active overnight shifts and split shifts when required.
- Up to date with mandated Covid 19 vaccinations OR provide formal/authorised exemption.
